11 Intermediate iPad Skills
1) Save images from the web
Tap and hold on an image. You can either save the image to your photo library or copy the image to your clipboard.
2) Cut, Copy, and Paste Text
Tap and hold on a word. You can drag the blue highlight to the selection that you want to copy. In order to paste the text, go to an area where you can type and tap and hold, then select paste.
3) Add website to Home Screen
Using the Safari app, add a website to the home screen by clicking on the save/open in button on the top (square with an arrow) and select Add to Home Screen.
4) Change the background image
Go to your Settings and select Brightness & Wallpaper. You can tap on the Wallpaper settings and select a new picture for your background (TIP: create an image displaying your contact information and use this image for your background image, in case your iPad is lost).
5) Search within a website page
Click in the Search bubble on the top right. You will see the keyboard appear on the bottom. Directly above the keyboard is a search field to find text on the page.
6) Zoom in on websites
You can zoom in on any website by pinching out with two fingers on the screen. This also makes it easier to select words and tap links. To zoom out again, just pinch in with two fingers. Double-tap on any text or image to auto-zoom so it fills the screen.
7) Utilize the multi-task bar
Double-tap on the home button or swipe down to access the multi-task bar. This is the multi-task bar. You can access your most recently used apps, or swipe all the way to the left on the multi-task bar to lock orientation or mute the iPad, adjust the brightness, play or pause music, or turn on mirroring for your iPad.
8) Use Dropbox for the quickest and easiest access to your files on your computer
Learn about and download the Dropbox app on your iPad.
9) Clear the Cache, History and Cookies in Safari for the iPad
Select settings and then select Safari from the list on the left. You will then have ability to clear data from your Safari history.
10) Improve your typing speed by using the double spaces trick
Instead of typing a period at the end of each sentence, just double-tap the space bar. It will enter a period followed by a single space.
11) Customize the apps on your dock
Touch and hold an app and drag it to the dock on the bottom of the screen. You can also remove apps from the dock by dragging them back to the app screen.
