1) Quick Mute
In order to quickly silence your iPad, hold the volume down button for about two seconds in order to mute your iPad.
2) Cut, Copy and Paste for Experts
Rather than stretch the little blue knobs in order to highlight a paragraph of text, tap any text four times. You will highlight the entire paragraph.
3) Reset your iPad (and individual Apps)
When your iPad freezes, you can reset the iPad by holding the power and home button together for a few seconds. Your iPad will restart. To force quit an application, just hold the home button by itself in a similar fashion.
4) Quickly use the apostrophe and quotation marks
Swiping up quickly on the Comma key will instantly insert an apostrophe; swiping up on the Period key inserts a quotation mark.
5) Tapping and holding virtual keys
Press and hold on a vowel, for example, and a popover containing accented versions of the selected character appear (certain consonants, like C, S, and N, also offer alternate versions when you tap and hold).
6) Control iPad notifications
Go to Settings and Notifications to decide which apps can pop up alerts, which have notifications at the top of the screen, and which appear in Notification Center.
7) Restrict your Spotlight searches
You can restrict your Spotlight search and limit the categories by going to Settings > General > Spotlight Search.
8) Replace a word
Hold down on a word when typing and choose the option of Replace. You will see suggestions for alternative words that have similar spellings.
9) Quick Safari scroll
Jump up to the top of any web site by tapping on the top of the title window.
10) Mirror your iPad
You can use AirPlay to mirror your iPad if you have an Apple TV or an application on a computer, such as AirServer. Access the multi-task bar and swipe to the left to find the mirroring button (a box with an arrow). Once you enable mirroring, you will be able to project most apps and content on a television or projection.
11) Use iCloud to backup your iPad
Turn iCloud on by going to Settings and iCloud. When you do so, your iPad will stop automatically backing up to your PC and back up to your iCloud account. This is also a way to access Pages, Keynotes, and Numbers documents on your computer.
