aggregator software that gathers your subscriptions thousands of Web pages are now tagged as RSS inviting you to subscribe to them so that your personal blog page contains all your subscriptions automatically link
blog Web journal web log (or weblog) that functions as a personal diary on a certain topic or reflective of a specific person link
podcast audio/video files you subscribe to MP3 files and other audio files have been posted on the Web for years; what is unique about podcasts is that you SUBSCRIBE to a topic so that as new files are created on the topic, the audio files are automatically sent to your MP3 player link
RSS real simple syndocation (others interpretations exist) when a Web page is RSS enable, you have the ability to subscribe to it so that your blog or your iPod is autoomatically and automagically updated when new content is added link
wiki a shared writing Web page you might say that a wiki is a blog that is altered and written by a number of people link

for our usage this week ... we have a Summercore blog at summercore.blogspot.com which is part of www.blogger.com ... login is summercore and password is a TEN letter word that begins with an "s" and end in an "e" ... this particular blog was created using www.blogger.com (same as www.blogspot.com) ... according to wikipedia, a "weblog, which is usually shortened to blog, is a type of Web site where entries are made (such as in a journal or diary), displayed in a reverse chronological order. Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries."

for our usage this week ... we have a Summercore WIKI at http://summercore.wikispaces.com/ which is part of www.wikispaces.com ... according to wikipedia, a "wiki is a type of Web site that allows users to easily add, remove, or otherwise edit and change most available content, sometimes without the need for registration. This ease of interaction and operation makes a wiki an effective tool for collaborative writing."

for our usage this week ... we have a Summercore aggregator at http://www.bloglines.com/login?r=/myblogs ... the login is summercore@chapin.edu and password is a 10 byte code of larry bird's birthday repeated twice ... the main Web page of www.bloglines.com offers blog services but also lets you aggregate the blogs of favorite topics ... according to wikipedia, "An aggregator ... uses a web feed to retrieve syndicated web content such as weblogs, podcasts, vlogs, and mainstream mass media websites ... an aggregator is able to subscribe to a feed, check for new content at user-determined intervals, and retrieve the content. The content is sometimes described as being pulled to the subscriber, as opposed to pushed with email. Unlike recipients of some pushed information, the aggregator user can easily unsubscribe from a feed. The aggregator provides a consolidated view of the content in a single browser display. Such applications are also referred to as RSS readers."
