Hands-On Activity for the Afternoon Session


Overview: Working with a team of 2-3 people, create a one page document in ClarisWorks with some of the following specs (the more the better).
TEAM: "together everyone achieves more"

ClarisWorks Specs

  1. Half inch margins
  2. One or more instances of clip art
  3. One or more instances of floating text
  4. One or more graphics from the web, properly annotated with the web address.
  5. One or more quotes from the web, properly annotated with the web address.
  6. Spell-checked and one space between sentences.
  7. Header as follows
  8. Date at top left, Topic Chosen in Center, Names at Far Right
  9. Picture of your faces from digital camera (if possible)
  10. One spreadsheet frame, either floating or in-line with list of people on your team
  11. One example of "out-denting" or "resume-writing" style in Clarisworks
  12. Fill the page so it looks like a poster (no white space) .. the final step
HINTS and TIPS: when on the web, click and hold on a graphic to COPY it ... easy way to check for two spaces is with FIND feature ... hold down OPTION and drag to create a text frame ... when you PASTE, the object becomes FLOATING or IN-LINE based on what tool is selected at that moment ... there are two left margin markers and one right margin marker ... pictures can be cropped in the PAINTING program of clarisworks ... web addresses can be copied and pasted to assure accuracy ... use the RAM chip if memory allows to move back and forth from web to clarisworks ... ask 3 before me .. when stuck, find someone younger than you!
