There are 2 different times of links you can add in Dreamweaver:
1. A link to an external webpage:
Type the text you want to appear on your webpage; for example, if you wanted to link to Google you would type "Google" and not the url. Then you highlight the text (in this case, "Google") and type the url in the bottom right corner of the toolbar below your window that says "Link".

2. A link to an internal page that is connected to your site:
You need to create a new page. To do this you select NEW from the FILE menu and select BASIC PAGE and click CREATE.

Title your new page and save it in your website folder (the one you created at the beginning). On the page where you want the link, type the text you want to appear on your webpage; for example, if your new page was entitled "About Me" you would type "About Me" on the page where you want the link to be placed. Then you highlight the text (in this case, "About Me ") and click on the folder icon by the link box in the bottom toolbox and open the newly created page.
