IS A GOOD WEBPAGE Part Two: Summary of Pink Card Questions From Monday Day One (1) How to pull apart a computer (Christian) --> We will try to do this during lunch (2) How do you create a schedule in color, e.g. classroom schedule? (Veronica) --> I believe you will find using an Excel Spreadsheet the easier way to do this. We need to look at specifics together. Do you know good software that prevents pupils from writing to drive c when using a network of PCs running windows NT server and NT workstations as well? (Peter) * I will tell you and show you what I know about Foolproof by Smartstuff. We have been using this at Nobles for years and have a lot of positive things to say about it. (3) Permission for posting pictures on the web? (Anne C) (4) Advice on laptop purchasing (Christian) (5) Advice on purchasing in general (Colin, Liz S) We will do this in person, but I offer these general statements: ** Purchase with just 2-3 years in mind ** Allocate money for software, printer, support. ** Ram is generally useful, speed and hard drive space are generally a waste of money. (6) "Je Voudrais" Du Vin (Eliane and Colin, Veronica and Anne H-D who scored 15 have won wine for some lunch this week) (7) How do make a profile for yourself on Outlook Express at a new computer, not your own? Veronica Here is the step by step explanation, which will serve as a framework when we show you in person. This is not easy and requires a good deal of in person explanation and practice! STEP ONE Right mouse click on outlook and then click on PROPERTIES This will take you to the screen below STEP TWO From the screen above, choose SHOW PROFILES. You will be presented with the list of profiles for this particular PC as you see in the sample screen below. The goal of course is to make your own PROFILE. STEP THREE The best strategy is to click on someone else's profile and then choose COPY. In the example above, we are choosing to COPY the profile of Gwynne. STEP FOUR You are almost set. The last things to deal with include making sure that your new profile has nothing but the basics in it. To find out, click on PROPERTIES and eliminate extra items like the address book (which you inherited from Gwynne). STEP FIVE Finally, go to properties and make sure it says Mercury and that the mailbox is adjusted as you see below.
