Prohibition was a period of time during the 1920's when alcohol was considered illegal. It was the only time in US history when there was a law created banishing alcohol from society in the United States. The Eighteenth Amendment is the amendment that classified the selling and consumption of alcohol illegal. This amendment was passed on January 20, 1920. Soon after though, around 13 years, people began to feel just the opposite of the way they did before and they began to oppose the eighteenth amendment. A national repeal for prohibition was created and on December 5, 1933, the eigteenth amendment was finally repealed.
