Babe Ruth was a baseball player with the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Boston Braves. His real name was George Herman Ruth, and he was one of the most famous baseball players of all time. In addition, he was one of the outstanding American personalities in the years between World War I and World War II. The personality of Babe Ruth connected with his extraordinary baseball skill made him a larger than life hero. He is the only player to have mastered both aspects of the game: pitching and hitting. Finally, his sheer baseball skill, and the apparent ease with which he played amazed contemporaries.
