Christine's Webpage By Christine Lamb

Over the years I have had various experience with different musical instruments. My parents both have a deep love of music. My mother when she was younger took piano lessons. My dad played both the trumpet and the saxophone. They both also sang in school. I started playing the clarinet in fourth grade. My first year was taking lessons at the school and then in fifth grade I took more lessons and played in the school band. In fifth grade I also sang in the school glee club. I did not enjoy that very much. In sixth grade I dropped the clarinet. In seventh grade I did I year of piano lessons. I took lessons from a great teacher. Her name was Mrs. Healer. From her I learned a lot about notes, rhythm and music in general.

In eighth grade I decided to drop the piano. I was starting to get much more interested in listening to music then playing it. I haven't played any instrument since seventh grade. Now in ninth grade my radio is going constantly. It's the first thing I hear in the morning and the last thing I hear as my head hits the pillow. I usually listen to alternative music. Some of my favorite bands include: Dave Matthews Band, Matchbox 20 and One Fell Swoop.

My younger sister Annette is very musical. She took piano for two years. Annette has also been playing the drums for three years. What is interesting to me is that she doesn't like to listen to music as much as I do. Perhaps it is the fact that because she plays so much she gets tired of hearing it. It is also possible that because I am a teenager that I enjoy it so much more.

Well as you can see I come from a rather musical family. I personally love music very much. Who knows ? Perhaps I will pick up the piano again later in life.

The group that I have chosen to write about is Matchbox 20. They are a rather new group composed entirely of males. Here is a list of all the members and what they play: Rob Thomas sings, Kyle Cook plays the lead guitar, Adam Gayner is on the rhythm guitar, Brian Yale does the bass and Paul Douchette is on the drums. Their most famous song is " Push." It is very popular and ranks high on the music chart. Another song of theirs is " The Real World." Both of these songs are on their first album which is "Yourself or Someone Like You." Matchbox 20 says they have enough songs for a second album but because their first album has just started to become popular their going to wait for the next one. " Push " is my favorite song by them . It has a great beat and just flows very well. In all Matchbox 20 is a great band and I can't wait to hear more of their music.

  1. The group is entirely composed of males.
  2. There are 5 members in the group.
  3. They have just one album
  4. The most famous song is "Push"
  5. Their first album is "Yourself or Someone Like You."

I would clasify their music as alternative
