Griffith Joyner was born Dec.21,1959, in the Watts section of Los Angeles.She graduated from David Starr Jordan High School in 1978. After that she attended Cal State Northbridge for two years. Then she graduated from UCLA in 1983 with a degree in psychology . Joyner married Al Joyner in 1987 . They had a 7-year-old daughter named Mary Ruth .

Some interesting facts about Griffith Joyner:

1. A six time Olympic medalist and world heptathlon .
   
2. She still holds world records in the 100-and 200-meter dashes.

Griffith Joyner, 38, died at her Mission Viejo home . A family friend attributed death to a heart-related problem . Joyner once told the associated press in 1994 that she wanted to be someone who is tring to set positive examples for kids .
