The Other Babe! (Dedrikson-Zaharius)

Mildred Didrikson was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on June 26, 1914. She died in Galveston, Texas on September 27, 1956.

"Babe" lived in Texas throughout her life. She died at such a young age because she had Breast Cancer.


Below are some interesting things about Babe Didrikson.

  1. She played track and field, golf, basketball, baseball and softball, swimming, figure skating, billiards, and football.
  2. She won seventeen straight golf tournaments in 1947.
  3. She earned three gold medals in the 1932 Olympic Games, but only got two, because she used the wrong technique in the high jump.
  4. She was married to a professional wrestler named George Zaharius
  5. She played on the women's All-America basketball team in 1930, 1931, and 1932.
