Penpaling with Diane Lemay


I was very lucky to have had Diane Lemay as my penpal from the Boston Home. Even though we only wrote a few letters, I could really get a sense of her way of life. As a matter of fact, she has Multiple Sclerosis, but still seems to be an active person. If our class wasn't told that most people in the Boston Home had MS or other dissabilities, I could have never guessed that my penpal had one of those dissabilities. Diane is a nice person who likes to watch sports and help other residents at the Boston Home with the computer. Diane speaks fluent French, and as you will see, wrote most of her letters to me in french, which helped me with some of my vocabulary!! Here are some of our letters to each other............

First Letter From Me To Diane

Dear Ms. Lemay: Hi! My name is Andrea Zeytoonjian, and I am a 7th grade student at the Noble & Grrenough school. My computer teacher, Mr. Bergen (who you probably know) asked us to pick one member at The Boston Home as a penpal, and I chose you. One of the reason's is because I read on your webpage that you speak fluent French, and are very interested in France. This past summer, my family and I (i'm an only child) took a trip to France. It was a nice vacation, even though it rained the whole time we stayed there!!!!!! I don't know why, but after about 4 days, I was so anxious to go home!!!!!It was the farthest away from home i've ever been, and THE LONGEST PLANE RIDE!!!!!!! 8 and 1/2 hours sitting on a plane, it was brutal!!!!! Anyway, I take French now, but i'm not very good- maybe you could help me with my vocabulary!!! I am really looking forward to learning more about you, and your ways of life!!!! Je suis tres heureuse de savoire vous voulez ma voire pours votre nomme de plummes... Quest-ce que vous avez veux dans Pariee,France? Mes parents et mes grandparents sont morts, mais j'ais un garcon,sa femme et une petite fille, je vas avoir un nouveaux enfant dans mas famille. Si j'ais la chance j'aimeras alez ans France ous a Montreal,Quebeque. J'aime a garrdez les olympiques,football,baseball, bowling, j'aimes aussi etre dans le cuisiniere, et j'aime aidez les personnes ici avec le computer j,etais une aide devous que j'ai residez chez Fall River,Ma.... Hi Diane!!!! I'm sorry that i haven't written for a long time- i've had a straight week and a half of tests!!! I enjoyed reading your letters- and hope we can have many more! Maybe i should tell you a little more about myself..........I really like sports, etc.- I played field hockey for the school team, and i LOVED it!!!!! Now i am playing ice hockey, and i love that, too! I play right wing in field hockey, and center in hockey. I dance, too- i have been dancing for 9 years - ballet, pointe, tap, and jazz- but I took the year off this year, because it was my first year here, and i really wanted to get settled- plus- it was really hard to fit in the time!
