LINDA Hello Todd and Andrew.
I want to tell you about an adventure in the Sixties. I went to the East Zone of Germany while thwe Berlin Wall was still up., so I got into Communist occupied territory. I had to go through Checkpoint Charlie. when you go through Checkpoint Charlie, you had to give up 5 West German marks for 5East German marks. West German Marks weree equivalent to about $5. They also took my passport. When I came back, I was told since I hadn't spent the East German Marks, I had to give them to the Russian Red ?Cross, and I refused. So the Guards surrounded me with their tommy guns, and they would not let me leave. Un less I gave away the marks they would not give me my passport. I refused and sat down because I was not going to give anything to the Russians who were our enemies then. There were no other civilians in the room and I was all alone. I sat there for an hour, and a peerson approached me. He spoke good English and said that I would not get the passport until I gave up the marks. He said, I am going to call a taxi and accompany you to your pensione in the West Zone. I hjad to put the marks in a box that said Red Cross, and he took me back. He knew where I was living!! When I got back to the USA, I got down and kissed the ground!!

When I graduaed from college I worked with Worcester Biological and Cancer Research. At the same time with Marvin Richmond Photography Studio in Worcester, and going to school at the academy of security and investigation. After that I worked at Jordan Marsh (now Macy's) as a store detective. I worked for ETNA life and casualty as an engineering representative after that. I was assessing the risks for the underwriters. I did that for a few years and then I came down with Multiple Sclerosis. I took a sabatical. I worked for VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) as a government employee. That was my last job. I was licensed as a psychologist, and did that for a number of years until I had to discontinue my license because I had no where practice counselling and no income. I did a lot of traveling at that time to Germany and Scandinavia. I backpacked in Germany for 2 weeks during the time that the wall was still up in 1973. I was diagnosed with MS in 1975.
