Computer Proficiency 1 Reports, April 1997

The semester the Boston Celtics finished third in the Ping Pong Ball Lottery on May 18th and lost Tim Duncan!

First Web Project was to collect facts about Multiple Sclerosis as part of a team and to make a web page using basic HTML codes. Second web project was to become an expert about one invention choice: drawing a graphic, researching 10 facts and compiling e-mail penpal quotes.

Computer Proficiency 1 Sounds Off to Staz

    CP1 Spring 97

These invention project in CP1 were created during the 95/96 year by Staz (Kristin Stasiowski) who was a teaching intern during her senior year here at Nobles. On Friday, June 30th, each of these students voice-recorded a 10 second summary of why the invention they researched this semester has had both a positive and negative impact on our society. Because each sound file is about 180K (i.e. 180,000 bytes or 1,440,000 bits, it will take approximately 45-60 seconds on a 28.8 modem (28,000 bits or 3K per second) for the sound to download. Listener beware!

Each of these sound files was voice-recorded on a standard Mac. The sounds were then moved out of the system file and altered to AIFF format using the shareware Sound Effects that we have purchased here at Nobles. Nothing more than standard A HREF command is used in the HTML coding for this web page. If you know anything more about working with sound files on the web, please send me a note. I would love to hear from you, since I am just at the JV level in learning about posting sounds on the web.

    Thanks!
