My 10 Facts about on the invention, the Zamboni
My 10 Facts about on the invention, the Zamboni by Laura Bond

1.It was invented by Frank Zamboni. 2.It was invented in 1949. 3.Southern California is where the first one was made. 4.He made it because he wanted to clear his hockey rink easier and faster, so that it would be clean ice and better to skate and play hockey on. 5.It runs on gasoline. 6.Made out of mainly plastic and metal. 7.The conditioner (the part on the ice) has a razor sharp blade that cuts the ice with an auger that lifts the snow into the dump bucket. 8. As the blade cuts, the ruts and grooves are filled with water, then the flood water is laid down and a cloth pulls the water over the ice uniformly. 9. It takes about 15 minutes for a regular Zamboni to go around the ice. What it does is that it wipes off the scratches on the ice, making it smooth, clear of all grooves, and very even. Laura, I consider my self "retired". I used to be in real estate finance (syndications) but for the last five years I have been busy managing the family. I use computers a great deal and email every day.
What have you learned about the Zamboni? Are you a hockey player? What is your spring sport and how is your team doing? My son Mike Fish plays baseball.
    Stay in touch. Gretchen Fish

Hi. I have learned how much time it takes for the zamboni to clear the ice (15mins) and a few things like what it runs on and what it is made of. I am sort of a hockey player and i did girls jv tennis for my spring sport. I had a match yesterday and i played pretty well. i aced a girl in one of my serves! Do you live in welleesley? Because on your last letter it had an address in wellesley. ok, i gotta go-Laura
Hi Laura. I live on Wellesley Street in Weston. That is the same as Weston Road in Wellesley.
Did you find any information on air pollution inside rinks because of the Zamboni machine? I know it is a problem in some rinks. Did a person named Zamboni really invent the machine?
I think it is wonderful that Nobles has such good Girls Hockey. I'm glad Title IX has openned up sports opportunities for women.
Good luck on your project. Have a good weekend.
    Best wishes, Gretchen Fish
