Quotes from 4 of of our 10 Wheelers
From Michele Hurley:
"ONCE AGAIN WE DID IT, EVEN THOUGH IN THE BEGINNING YOU, STEVE, WERE PICKING ON MY PUSHER --HA HA HA.
THE ENTIRE DAY WAS GREAT, RIGHT FROM THE START ROLLING OVER LARRY'S TOWEL, TO THE END WITH OUR VERY OWN VIRTUAL REALITY FINISH LINE. IT WAS FANTASTIC!! A WHOLE LOT OF THANKS IS ALSO GOING TO EVERYONE FROM NOBLE AND GREENOUGH FOR WITHOUT THEM, THE ENTIRE DAY WOULD BE NON EXISTING.
THANKS AGAIN, MICHELLE HURLEY"
-
From Diane Lemay:
"TO ALL THE PUSHERS EVEN "LES ELEVES DE PARIS,FRANCE ET LES CELUI QUI SONT APRES ETUDIER LA LANGUE DE FRANCAIS,"JE VEUX VOUS MERCI TOUS! I THANK EACH AND EVREYONE OF YOU, ESPECIALLY, OUR CO-SPONSOR WHO WAS KIND TO DONATE THE T-SHIRTS WE ALL WORE THIS YEAR. I, THANK ALL OF YOU FOR PRESENTING THE "MEGAPHONE" TO ME AT THE BEGINING OF THE RACE, EVEN THOUGH MY RIGHT HAND IS STILL THAWING OUT. I ENJOYED THE MARATHON AS I DID LAST YEAR! I WANT TO THANK NOBLE&GREENOUGH FACULTY/PARENTS/STUDENTS AND TEACHERS
FOR WITHOUT ALL OF YOU ALL OF WHAT WE HAVE WOULD NOT EXIST, FOR THEIR KIND SPONSORSHIP/DONATION. AS FAR AS 2001, MAYBE WE COULD HAND OUT FLYERS ALONG THE ROUTE AND HAVE A LOCAL T.V. STATION INTERVIEW US, SO, OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS WILL SEE ALL OF US. THINK ABOUT IT AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR COMMENTS.
YOUR FRIEND/VOTRE AMIE
DIANE LEMAY :) :)"
-
From Colleen Powers:
"Well, the 26 mile block party was worth it. Although the day was a little nippy, it was warm enough! I couldn't believe that three people ran by me at the end of the race!--All that competition after 26 miles! And the women's contingent was even hotter! I wonder if I could ever be so competitive! It was wonderful to see all the faces from the Boston Home there, but I think that with giving Diane a bull-horn, we've created a monster!"
-
From Janice Kushner: "Marathon day was exhilarating and fun. Not only the enjoyment of being in
the "marathon environmennt," but ENJOYING the spirit and enthusiasm of the
students from Nobles and Greenough. Having a finish line to pass over
made the day complete."
Quotes from some of our 40+ Pushers
-
From Linda Hurley-fac: "Marathon Day was very special. I have watched the race for years in Wellesley Center. It is so amazing to think about
all the planning that goes into an event that size. I loved being part of the "BH/Nobles mini-marathon." We had an incredible group of Nobles parents, students, faculty, staff, and BH residents and staff ....it was truly an experience to remember...looking forward to the next one. Hope we can stay longer and watch Dan M. and Chris C. run by us!! Thank you friends."
-
From Caitlin Spillane-02:
"Thanks for the great day on Monday! I had a great time pushing and getting to know everyone from the Boston Home, especially Alvan who I pushed. I can't wait until next year. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did. See you next year! -Caitlin :)"
-
From Jessica Lee-01:
"Thanks for making monday so great! Pushing was harder than I thought--the roads do curve very shaply towards the curb. It was great to meet Laurie, Claudia (hey hey hey, alright alright!) and the rest of the gang from the Boston Home. Chilly, yes, but there was so much happiness I barely felt a chill once we got going. A highlight for me was seeing the look on the face of a young boy in a wheelchair when he saw us go by. I think there was a closed door in his mind that was opened in that moment, and it was wonderful. I loved the finish line and the crowds who cheered us on. Looking forward to next year, Jess"
-
From Ashley Sherwin-01:
"I had a really good time on Monday. I helped to make sure that Linda didn't get too close to any curbs while pushing herself (not an easy task because the road curves down toward the curb). The weather wasn't the best but at least it wasn't raining. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and I'm looking forward to participating again next year."
-
From Belle Swanson (nobles parent):
"Hi to all - Diane I hope your right hand thaws out soon - you were incredible
with your new megaphone!!!! It was an honor to be there on Monday and meet
everyone as we pushed onward through the streets of Boston. Despite the
chill in the air there were many warm hearts that came together to make the
day a success. Many thanks to everyone responsible for
making this all happen. Let's hope spring arrives soon."
-
From Dan Matlack-fac:
"Thanks to all for a great day. I had a delightful time walking and chatting with Colleen. I was especially grateful to Lois for pushing so much. I must be losing my hearing in my advancing years, but I struggled last year to hear what my wheelers were saying. Not so this year! I look forward to next year and hope the BAA will let us walk farther on the course. I also hope they arrange for warmer weather."
-
From Terry Agostini-fac:
"To All, Thanks to Linda Hurley for asking me to join in the walk; to Steve for making the walk exciting,
to Lucy and Ana for the great company; to Claudia for her enthusiasm; to Tim for driving; to Carol for
Keeping tabs on me; for the opportunity to meet and enjoy a great group of people! Hope to see you all again for 2001."
-
From Mardi Newman (parent of Nobles faculty member, Ellie Newman):
"What a wonderful day--I loved every minute, even being the brunt of Steve's
jokes!! =) Thanks to everyone who made it such a special event--the
wheelers(Go, Michelle!!), Faith and Jeff, Nobles students, faculty, and
parents--and a special thanks to Steve for organizing us all!! Favorite
moments for me were meeting Linda's folks at the start and seeing Janice's
mother along the way and having Michelle's sister and nephew join us for part
of the race!! It was a fabulous day and I can't wait for Marathon 2001!"
-
From Tim Carey-fac: "Hey there everyone! Just a short note to say how much I enjoyed pushing and being with the group on Monday. It would have been nice if the weather had cooperated a bit more, but the spirit was high and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I am already looking forward to the next event!"
