A linking verb is a verb that compares two things. Some linking verbs are: to be, to smell(like), and to become.

An infinitive phrase is a verb preceded by the word to. The only case in which the verb in an infinitive phrase is not preceded by the word to is when the word before the infinitive phrase is can.

An adjective clause is a type of subordinate clause. A subordinate clause is a fragment with a verb and a subject. A subordinate clause can not be a complete sentence. An adjective clause modifies a noun the same way an adjective does. Adjective clauses always begin with one of the following: who, whom, whose, which or that.

An adverb clause is also a subordinate clause. It modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb. Adverb clauses can start with many words called subordinating conjunctions. Some of them are as follows: after, although, as, because, if, since, so that, than, though, unless, when, where, while, or many others.

An article is a part of speech that modifies a noun. Adjectives also modify nouns, but articles are special. There are only three of them, a, an and the. A or an are used when something is first introduced in a piece of writing. The is used to talk about that thing after it is introduced. An is only used in the place of a when the following word begins with a vowel or a vowel sound.
